If you wanna find an awesome, dramatic, fictionalized Bollywood film that reflects truly the human-trading (especially women) in India, 'Love Sonia' is the best of your choices. The script was based on the real striking incidents.

Unlike other films based on women sexual abuse topic in Indian, 'Love Sonia' makes it distinctive by the way it underestimates women. The story starts with the scene in which Shiva (Adil Hu, Hussain), a farmer of a poor land 1,400 km north of Mumbai, is obligated to sell one of his two daughters to "Dada Thakur" (Anupam Kher), a zamindar.

Love Sonia

The main character, Sonia (Mrunal Thakur), younger sister of Preeti (Riya Sisodia), being frightened when she witnessed the trading. With the view to finding her sister, Sonia left home for going to Mumbai. Difficulties has begun since she falls into a brothel in Mumbai. The film is the adventure of Sonia. At that time, Sonia was only seventeen years old.

Sonia is not a hard character for Mrunal Thakur, an excellent actress. She acts naturally by her own naïve appearance and innocent behavior. Audiences can easily empathize with her pain. Her co-stars are power-packed actors.

This time, Manoj Bajpayee will appear in a totally different characteristic, not a person whose soft-spoken characteristic. He (Faisal) is the ruthless brothel owner whose "business" is trafficking.

The extremely helpless farmer, Adil Hussain and the currish landlord, Anupam Kher, are also convincing.

Madhuri (Richa Chadha) and Rashmi (Freida Pinto) are conventional prostitutes but remarkable as their added good sides. Manish (Rajkummar Rao) and Selma (Demi Moore) are kind social-workers. They strive to rescue those abused girls. It's really wasting to put these actors into an important but minuscule role.

However, unnatural and amateurish elements are unavoidable, the plot is easy to predict.

After all, what makes this film unique is the genuine feeling of its story. This film is the excellent combination of the cinematography of Lukasz Bielan, the sound design of Resul Pookuty, the background of R. Rahman and Martin Singer's professional edit.

Though the plot is not an outstanding one, the brilliant artifice will fill in the shortcomings of the content.

Sound designing and editing are one essential factor contributing to the success of 'Love Sonia'. Resul Pookuty and Martin Singer are so prominent when they push the pain in the brothel over the limit by adding sound effects. Also, foreshadowing devices like special cuts and sound moments accomplished with the narratives smoothly.

The only weakness is a familiar plot, easy to guess despite smoothly and truly telling. Besides, the tone of the narrative also slows down the audiences' mood. Also, the production crew key on effects but forget to dramatize the content.
