According to reports, actress Kajal Aggarwal, who was psyched up about teaming up with Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi in Acharya, has bowed out of the much-awaited film. The actress came onboard after Trisha Krishnan had walked out of the movie to star in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil period drama Ponniyin Selvan.
The shooting of Acharya is currently on hold due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. All actors are staying at their homes amid the lockdown. But besides enjoying his quarantine with his family, seasoned actor Chiranjeevi is also busy overseeing the formalities of Corona Crisis Charity, a special committee formed to offer financial assistance to daily wagers and other lower-income groups in the Telugu film industry.
Meanwhile, the news is coming in that Kajal Aggarwal has quit Acharya. If fresh reports are to be believed, the talented actress had signed a big Tamil project and had allocated a chunk of her dates to it. Unfortunately, both films are set to begin production once the lockdown is lifted. Kajal Aggarwal has opted out of Acharya because, no matter how much she tries, she cannot accommodate both the films at the same time. However, there is no official confirmation on the exit of the actress from the project.
Talking more about the film, Chiranjeevi had earlier said that Acharya is a socio-political entertainer that depicts a man's fight to conserve natural resources. He added that his role in the film is an intense one, both physically and intellectually. Like director Koratala Siva's previous movies, Acharya too drives across a strong message without sounding too preachy.
Superstar Ram Charan, who next stars in acclaimed filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli’s fictional period drama RRR, plays an extended cameo in Acharya. With Kajal Aggarwal bowing out of the film, it will be interesting to see who will be next heroine to come onboard.
