Jyothika played the title role in Chandramukhi and walked away with several awards for her excellent performance in the horror-comedy.

Jyothika, who was last seen in Tamil action thriller Thambi (2019), is in talks to join the star cast of the recently announced film Chandramukhi 2. As the title suggests, the movie is a sequel to her 2005 horror-comedy Chandramukhi, which did outstanding business at the box-office upon its release. Over the years, it has gained humongous popularity among the audience.

While superstar Rajinikanth played the lead role in Chandramukhi, the sequel will be headlined by actor-filmmaker Raghava Lawrence. Sun Pictures will bankroll the project. While the rest of the cast is yet to be announced, speculations are rife that Jyothika might come onboard to play the female lead opposite Raghava Lawrence.

Jyothika played the title role of Chandramukhi and went on to garner several awards and accolades for her powerful performance in the movie. Recently, director P Vasu revealed that Chandramukhi 2 is in the works and Raghava Lawrence has been roped in to play the role of king Vettaiyan played by Rajinikanth in the Ra Ra song. But fans are curious to know who the makers have cast to play the title role of Chandramukhi in the sequel.

According to reports, the makers are convinced that Jyothika herself fits the bill. They are in talks to rope in her in a dual role. But we have to wait to see whether or not Jyothika accepts the offer. If she turns down the offer, who will the makers approach next?

Helmed by P Vasu, Chandramukhi is considered an all-time Tamil blockbuster, which ran in theatres for 890 days. The movie has seen countless repeats on television and has been entertaining audiences for 15 years now.

Meanwhile, Jyothika next stars in the much-awaited Tamil film Ponmagal Vandhal. The legal drama, produced by Suriya under the banner of 2D Entertainment, is slated for its release directly on an OTT platform.
