Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Starrer “Ponniyin Selvan” Begins Productions

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in an extended cameo in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s production venture Fanney Khan (2018). It has been more than a year since the actress has not graced the silver screen and her fans are eagerly awaiting her return on celluloid once again.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has now teamed up with celebrated filmmaker Mani Ratnam for an upcoming multilingual film titled Ponniyin Selvan. The duo is reuniting after a huge gap of almost a decade. They last worked together on Raavan in 2010, which also starred Abhishek Bachchan and Vikram in lead roles.
The latest update on Ponniyin Selvan is that the team has kick-started the first shooting schedule of the film in Thailand. Before commencing the shoot on 11th December, the production team had visited Thailand for a recce.
Talking about the rest of the star cast of Ponniyin Selvan, the high-profile film also features Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Trisha in central characters. It is reported that Karthi plays Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan and Jayam Ravi portrays the role of Arulmozhi Varman in the film. Rumours were rife a couple of months ago that thespian Amitabh Bachchan may also join the star cast of the film.
According to a source in the know, filmmaker Mani Ratnam and crew are in Thailand for the shooting of Ponniyin Selvan. Actors Karthi and Jayam Ravi have already started shooting for the period drama. Megastar Vikram is expected to join the cast a little later to shoot for his portions. The source adds that it will be a 40-day schedule in Thailand. There is no update on the schedule of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. More details are expected to arrive soon.
