In the film, actor Shah Rukh Khan becomes the portrayal of character Roop Rathore who was a singer like his beloved dad (acted by Anupam Kher). The unfortunate thing is that his father now gets into trouble with his health issue and needs to be treated by immediate health care in the city of Bombay.
The climax comes when Roop is performing at the hotel of Ajay Narang, then he meets Reshma - who is the sister of Ajay - and she falls head over heels in love with Roop Rathore. From then, her mind is totally occupied by him; hence, she asks Ajay to call Roop to perform again in the hotel.
However, as Reshma sees many other girls flattering over Roop, she feels unhappy with that and she requires him to sing for only her from now on. But, Roop is keen on working for Patel rather than receiving her offer.
Moreover, Ajay becomes extremely obsessed with keeping Reshma satisfied in any circumstances while Patel is fiercely forced to make Roop redundant.
