Marking the first collaboration of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express took the cine-world by storm as well as broke several box office records in India and abroad.
With Rs 396 core worldwide gross, the movie surpassed Amir Khan starrer 3 Idiots to become the highest grossing movie at that point. As of the middle of 2018, Chennai Express is the eleventh-highest-grossing Bollywood film worldwide.

Deepika Padukone Wasn’t The First Choice

As Rohit Shetty wanted the film to have a Southern vibe, he went with the title Ready Steady Po at first. However, it was renamed into Chennai Express to highlight Deepika and SRK’s train sequence.

As a part of the film promotion, the filmmakers launched a mobile game revolving around the film ahead of the release date.
