Top 100 Bollywood Movies Of All Time: No.13 - "Salaam Namaste", Where Love Found In The Hopeless Place

In the 13th position in Top 100 Bollywood Movies Of All Time is "Salaam Namaste" of director Siddharth Anand which marks one of the most unforgettable films in Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta's career.

Released on 9 September 2005, Salaam Namaste marked the directorial debut of Siddharth Anand, and also the reunion of the golden on-screen couple Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan. 

Interestingly, the film was filmed entirely in Australia, therefore made a breakthrough in revenue when not only becoming one of the highest grossing film in the domestic market in 2005 but also India's biggest hit in the international market.

With the budget of ₹110 million, the film collected roughly ₹572 million all around the world and made it to Top 100 Bollywood Movies Of All Time. Alongside Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan and Preity, Arshad Warsi, Jugal Hansraj and Tania Zaetta also joined the cast.

Salaam Namaste chronicled the story of two youngsters who reallocated to Australia in search of a new life. The film is the unofficial remake version of American film Nine Months.

During one year in Australia, the two encountered many difficulties and relationship problem, from their destiny meeting at a wedding until they became a couple and moved in together and to their separation when Ambar got pregnant.

The film mirrors a realistic and burning social issue of the youth that Indian audiences avoid talking about.

Taking the lead role in Salaam Namaste, Preity Zinta was nominated in numerous prestigious awards including Filmfare Awards, Star Screen Awards, IIFA Awards and Zee Cine Awards. Apart from the fact that Salaam Namaste had a spectacular awards season and was listed in Top 100 Bollywood Movies Of All Time, both Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta have one of the most unforgettable films in their career.
