Sandakozhi 2 which has been a recent action drama under the direction of N. Linguswamy has been received many reviews. This Indian Tamil drama has caught a lot of attention from both viewers and critics. Probably, the film becomes more attractive thanks to the reunion of N. Linguswamy and Vishal after up to 13 years.
As regards the film director, N Linguswamy, it seems that there exists a special thing about him that could help to click with audiences. The 2005 Sandakozhi film based on a story about Balu (Vishal) who is a fresh college graduate. In the morning of the summer, he repeatedly hit Kasi (Lal) hard, a local gangster in front of public attention. At that situation, Kasi was under a vow to continue until Ksi could take revenge of Balu. Finally, he can find Balu after a time looking for him in a village located in Madurai. Thanks to Kasi, viewers start to know a lot about Balu as well as his father, Durai who is an extremely powerful person.
The film offers audiences with interesting dialogue like you see who is my father?. Such conversation often appears when the resistance against bad guys. However, in the film Sandakozhi, Kasi is advised to stop messing with Balu. Funnily, it is because you see who Balu’s father is. But, he appears not to follow the advice. Instead, Kasi still pursues his retaliation against Balu. This results in a climax in which Balu’s father offers him a chance to resolve scores with Balu after a fistfight. Now, Kasi knows more about Durai as well as his son. On the contrary, Durai explores more about the hidden side of Balu. It is Balu could manage to take down up to 10 men by himself without any sweat.
Sandakozhi 2 Review: A Lazy Sequel To Sandakozhi
Regarding themes of Sandakozhi, it presents to the audiences two fascinating ones. The first theme entails the father who knows more about his son as well as his hidden side. The other one is about a villain who finds out the power, accompanied by the influence of a person who is the enemy of his father. When mentioning the film sequel, Sandakozhi 2, it comes to the big screen without any new ideas or attractive themes. Sandakozhi 2 is arranged seven years as soon as the face-off between Kasi and Balu. Balu makes up his mind to come back to the native place after those years living overseas in order to organize a festival in his village.
However, the festival celebrations haven’t happened in that village due to a gang which Pechi led. In Sandakozhi 2, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is responsible for the role of Pechi. Husband of Pechi had to suffer from a death seven years ago in a similar festival. That’s why Pechi promises herself not to let the celebrations take place in peace. For sure, the celebration will standstill until she can take vengeance for her husband in which she will surely kill all the family’s men who killed Pechi’s husband several years ago. In a scene, Pechi could almost be successful in taking retaliation. However, Durai rescues Anbu from being killed.
Sandakozhi 2 Review: An Idle Rehash
Viewers could easily see that Sandakozhi has no fresh ideas compared to the very first Sandakozhi. Hence, this sequel gives the audience the impression of replaying almost all of the scenes. The character Balu sets his steps into the film at the right time he could insert his muscles to the stable of his father. And, the stable of his father is previously swarming with machismo. During the following two hours, Balu makes his great attempt to save Anbu though Pechi is trying to murder Anbu. The film continues with an interesting action sequence. It is when Balu hits hard on his enemies. The fight takes place in the congested carnival which aims at saving Anbu. Then, he has the intention to send his rivals to fly in the floating air. But, it comes as a surprise that there is no one in that crowded festival can notice this fight. Interestingly, the crowded festival seems to move around this action sequence like zombies. Moreover, they even make no contribution to the action scenes. In fact, they act like mute bystanders.
The film director has attentively added a throwback footage to the Sandakozhi. He does that by taking back Kasi. The terrifying antihero is treated comically during this sequel. Now, he is living his own life in a place named Andhra Pradesh. Plus, he tends to dress more self-effacingly. On the other hand, he still keeps on being a silly gangster. And, this unwise gangster transfers to Madurai with no an appropriate background guarantee on his target.
Sandakozhi 2 Review: Impressive Performances
In Sandakozhi 2, Keerthy Suresh acts as “loosu ponnu”. It is like the Tamil cinema’s archetypal heroine. Suresh, with no hesitation, finishes every inexplicable thing at the exact time when she receives a look from the hero. Immediately, the charm of Sembaruthi captivates Balu. Let’s wait for a second! What’s about the first film’s loosu ponnu, Hema? Obviously, the intention of making up such conventional heroine roles was to help the film producers to have an easy replacement. But, viewers can notice that the character Hema in Sandakozhi 2 was too inconsequential as well as unimportant to the movie. Hence, Linguswamy finds it unnecessary so as to provide a backstory which strives for vindicating her disappearance. If another sequel after Sandakozhi 2 continues to be produced, such character like Keerthy’s Sembaruthi would be unessential too.
One more one-dimensional role in Sandakozhi 2 is Varalaxmi Sarathkumar who plays Pechi. It would seem that she only screams and continues to scream. She repeats her action from time to time. Her scenes tend to more and more bored without any changes. As regards Vishal, he brings back the feeling that he hasn’t tried his best to act his scenes. His character is not interesting enough to entertain audiences. Therefore, this Vishal drama comes as no surprise to reward viewers with a great acting. Probably, he depends on Praveen K L, the editor as well as Shankar Raja, the composer to enable his scenes in Sandakozhi 2 to be much like the slow motions as well as exciting background score.
