Ranveer Singh, who was last seen in Gully Boy (2019), might join hands with hit filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar once again. The duo last worked together on Gunday in 2014. And if the latest reports are to be believed, Ranveer Singh and Ali Abbas Zafar are set to collaborate on the Mr. India trilogy.
Ali Abbas Zafar has confirmed that he will write and direct Mr. India, based on the iconic characters of the 1987 cult classic of the same name. The project will be developed as a trilogy, but it will not be a remake of the iconic original film, starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in lead roles. It is being developed as a completely fresh project and will be set in relevant and contemporary superhero world.
Confirming the development, Zafar said in his statement that it is a huge responsibility to carry forward an iconic character that has been loved by Indians for so many years. He added that he has just started working on the script of the film and that no actor has been finalized till now. Once the first draft of the script is ready, the makers will begin the casting process. The movie involves huge amounts of pre-production and will go on floor early next year.
While the filmmaker said that he has not locked any actor for the lead role, the industry sources reveal that Ranveer Singh is in talks to come onboard. The actor has reportedly liked the subject and may sign it on the dotted line soon.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is looking forward to the release of his next film ’83. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the sports drama is based on the 1983 Cricket World Cup win of Indian cricket team against West Indies. The film is slated for its theatrical release on 10th April 2020.
