Amavas, the latest thriller horror movie by Bhushan Patel, received negatives reactions from both critics and audiences despite being claimed to be the must-awaited horror movie using never-seen-before scary VFX.
Following the old spooky-tired format, Amavas reused the old familiar scary elements including the old wooden doors, screeching bells, corpses, and the woman escaping from her life.
Setting in a Gothic haunted mansion in a remote region of England, Amavas tells a story about supernatural phenomena happening to the couple Karan (Sachin Joshi) and Ahana (Nargis Fakhri).
There's nothing new in the first haft excepts for by a beginning song, the couples falling asleep and having nightmares. This part was full of unwanted and silly scenes leading the story to somewhere out of the plot. What was left in the second half were unrelated events without some logical explanation for the first haft. The end was an illogical and ludicrous when Nargis Fakhri and Mona Singh ran towards a ghoul`s grave and burn it.
The couple Sachin Joshi and Nargis Fakhri made the audience disappointed when there was no chemical reaction between the two. Their romantic scenes somehow became awkward. Meanwhile, Mona Singh's acting skill saves some tedious twists, Sachin Joshi didn't know how to express his scare. Moreover, Sachin looks like being confused in his character.
Another disappointed point of the film is the ghost, which looks like the face of a woman without sleeping for two nights. No, not scary at all. That the ghost continuously appears in a blood-thirsty body seems too tedious. Obviously, you can guess when the ghost comes knocking. Some of the theme songs were unnecessarily added, which broken the continuity of the story. For the movie-holic, watching Amavas turns out to be a painful two-hour-long endurance.
Reportedly, the film has managed to reach Rs 2.30 crore at the domestic box offices in 4 days.
