The Story of Majili
Majili is about Poorna, an unsuccessful cricketer and an alcoholic. According to his neighborhood, he is such a nuisance, and he becomes a burden on his father, while he is a wound that needs to be nursed for his wife. The wound of Poorna runs deep because it isn’t physical, but it’s an emotional injury in which his love story resulted in it and changed him for good.
Majili Movie Review
Cricket, heartbreak, and love create the premise for Shiva Nirvana to build his love story called Majili. His characters are gradually built around this; however, for the most of this movie, there is less love and plenty of heartbreak; whereas, cricket is shown merely as the aside - almost all of it is flawed and exaggerated.
With one love story such as Majili, multiple action sequences exist. And, it appears that Vizag people are always willing to beat up each other without any thought. And, in spite of this, the movie still keeps you entertained and interested in almost all the parts.
Majili revolves round character Poorna (played by Naga Chaitanya) - an unsuccessful cricketer and an alcoholic. To get his daily booze fix, he seeks help from his wife Sravani (played by Samantha) to borrow money from her. In the eye of his neighborhood, he is such a nuisance. Also, he continually makes his dad (Rao Ramesh) worry about him. Nonetheless, Sravani still stays convinced that her husband will come around and his wound will finally heal. His wound is not only physical but also emotional that it runs deep enough to destroy him.
In a dramatic and typical hate-turned-love situation, Poorna loses his heart to Anshu and only when things appear to go smoothly, he becomes associated with a rift with the captain of his team, leaves the team to work for Bhushan ( played by Subbarao) - a politician. From this, a bad decision forever changes Poorna’s life.
Final Thought
In general, the movie is quite refreshing. Every character has a distinctive depth, the music is amazing, and the protagonist’s pain is displayed without making the film become a sobfest. The pivotal cast brings some brilliant performances to Majili, thereby, helping it more attractive to audiences.
However, the movie has its flaws. To be more particular, the film director tends to feel confused about how to deal with the character of Subbaraju. At first, he is demonstrated as an evil good. Later, he turns himself into a more powerful guy; however, he was then made irrelevant throughout the film and also the plot. Still, Majili has enough to keep you interested in it, and spite of unnecessary fights and ill-timed songs, it is worth watching.
