Karan Johar Gonna Face The Biggest Debacle In His Career As "Kalank" Is A Disaster?

Leela Adwani|Apr 22, 2019

This debacle is likely to affect the careers of Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur who are outdoing themselves to make a strong comeback with "Kalank".

Before Karan Johar’s Kalank hit the screen, it had caught the attention of the public, and all the eyes had been on the day the film released. Every of the review of the first-hand cinegoers soon became a topic of discussion. It stands to the reason that Kalank broke the record of the highest opener of 2019 in no time.

However, when the film trailer was unveiled, many people termed it as a rip-off of 2018 blockbuster of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Many even said KJo is trying to make an emptied-out and soul-less copy of Bhansali and they also predicted that the filmmaker would fail. Through the box office collection, it looks like their predictions all come true.

Even though the film kicked-off with an impressive opening at the box office, the audiences and the critics have given the film the unmitigatedly negative reviews. For the record, it’s been four days since Alia and Varun’s Kalank was out, it has not as yet collected Rs 100 crores. The film has crossed only Rs 54 crore mark.

According to a source from Deccan Chronicle, Kalank is about to become another Aamir Khan’s box office flop Thugs Of Hindostan in which the megastar had to went publicity to apologize to his audiences.

However, Thugs Of Hindostan had still collected 100 crores on the first three days during its theatrical run, then failed flat due to the bad word of mouth. Kalank was reportedly made with a 250 crore budget and also by far one of the costliest films of Karan Johar.

What’s more? According to reports from ibtimes.co.in, trade experts predicted that the film would die at the ticket window with a collection of roughly Rs 80 crores maximum. This debacle is likely to affect the careers of Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur who are outdoing themselves to make a strong comeback with Kalank though it seems to make almost no difference to Alia Bhatt or Varun Dhawan who is riding high on their career.

Interestingly, the maverick producer Karan admitted that commercial success doesn’t make him care too much. The film is significant to him as it was also his father’s dream.
