Embracing motherhood can be one of the most beautiful things in the world. The arrival of a baby can turn out to be a big gift for many families. However, getting pregnant is not always in the plan of a lot of people. For decades, women are those who have taken the responsibilities for contraception, thanks to the help of pills. Now, if anyone is seeking the gender equation when it comes to contraceptive pills, a new breakthrough pill is made for men.
The effectiveness of the pill
A compound that is initially from a traditional medicine of China is called triptonide. It’s extracted from an herb, T. wilfordii Hook F. In fact, it has been traditionally used for the treatment of some ailments such as rheumatoid arthritis. However, in the 1980s, reports had it that men who used this herb for several months displayed infertility.
Turns out, it becomes a negative side effect but it is also what we need in a contraceptive for males at the same time.
What do the scientists say?
In a new study conducted recently, the experts investigated its effectiveness in that role. They tested 10 compounds of the herb and eventually triptonide was eventually singled out as the most potential and ideal contraceptive ingredient.
They then did severe tests on animals. A single daily dose can show its effectiveness on male mice within 3 to 4 weeks and 5 to 6 weeks in monkeys.
