While the debate on the ban of commercial surrogacy is all the rage, of late, the Lok Sabha passed a bill where they seek to ban it. However, the fact is that many Bollywood stars opted for this practice to welcome the new members of their family.
From Shah Rukh Khan to Karan Johar, here is the list of Bollywood stars who took the surrogacy to embrace the parenthood.
Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan
The leading actor of B-town SRK and his wife Gauri welcomed their last-born boy AbRam Khan thanks to surrogacy on 27 May 2013. Before expecting AbRam, they were already parents to 2 kids - Aryan and Suhana Khan.
Inheriting all the charm from his proud dad and indeed the cute dimples, Abram has been one of the most-loved celebrity kids of the tinsel town.
Karan Johar
Proud dad and prominent filmmaker Karan Johar is a father to two super cute twins Roohi and Yash who were born through surrogacy. They were given birth on 7 February 2017.
Little do we know that the name of Roohi is the rearrangement of Karan’s mom’s name Hiroo while Yash is the name of his late father Yash Johar.
Karan once made headline as he lashed out at the netizens for accusing him of keeping his twins away from mother’s love.
"Ma’m!! With all due respect! Get a life! There are larger issues the country is combatting at the moment and it can very well do without your narrow mindedness! My babies are being LOVED and that’s all that matters...and FYI they have a mother!! My mother! Get it!", said him.
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao
Another celeb also joins the surrogacy ‘league’ is none other than megastar Aamir Khan. His family was blessed with a baby boy, Azad Rao Khan, on 5 December 2011. Aamir and wife Kiran tied the knot on December 2005.
In fact, the Dangal actor is already father to two children - Junaid and Ira Khan with his ex-wife Reena Dutta. The couple had to choose this practice after his wife had a miscarriage which caused medical issues.
Sunny Leone and Daniel Weber
Bollywood stunner and bombshell Sunny and her husband Daniel welcomed their twin boys via surrogacy. They named their kids Noah and Asher Weber who were born in the year 2018.
Earlier in July 2017, they took the plunge to adopt a two-year-old baby girl named Nisha from Maharashtra.
Tusshar Kapoor
Tusshar officially joined the Bollywood single dads gang on 1 June 2016 when his boy Laksshya was born. The baby boy is also the first grandchild of Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor. The grandparents, in an interview, talked about their excitement.
“We could not be more excited to be grandparents to Laksshya and are completely supportive of Tusshar’s decision. This is certainly a tremendous blessing and an exciting time in our lives. Tusshar is a wonderful son, and he has proven, with responsibility, independence, and kindness, that he will be a great father to Laksshya.”
For those who are unversed, Tushar is yet to get married and always wanted to adopt a kid. He is also touted as a possessive and caring dad.
Ekta Kapoor
Producer and filmmaker Ekta Kapoor welcomed her son Ravie on 27 January. The fact is that she had been tried several methods to get pregnant over 7 years, but eventually went for surrogacy.
