Nagini Shree |Oct 04, 2018

Find out everything you need to know about the upcoming Marvel movie Venom, starring Tom Hardy as the titular antihero and its human alter-ego, Eddie Brock.

Here’s everything we know about the movie so far.

Who is Venom?

Venom started off little more than an extraterrestrial costume for Spider-Man in superhero comic book The Amazing Spider-Man  #252. This character was originally introduced as a foe for Spider-Man before evolving into a kind of vigilante anti-hero.

Interestingly, it symbiote costume once bonded to its host would give that person the superman ability to transform, regenerative healing. The film also featured the supporting cast including Flash Thompson, Wade Wilson and Peter Parker.

In the first version, Venom Symbiote parasitized on Spider-Man, accordingly, it possessed the Spider-sense and web-slinger’s abilities.

Will Venom follow the very real comic book?

In fact, Venom will be based on the two comic book stories.

Director Ruben Fleischer has a plan to bring the Spider-Man antihero to the big screen. During 2017's Comic-Con Experience, he revealed that the new film would be inspired by “Planet of the Symbiotes” and “Lethal Protector”. That Planet of the Symbiotes followed Venom, Spider-Man, and Scarlet Spider who teamed up to stop aliens from invading the Earth and investigated a series of murders as Venom believed himself to have committed.

Is Marvel Cinematic Universe the best bet for Venom?

It is true that Venom is a disgusting killer parasite which is much more cruel, cold-blooded and venomous than any other its Marvel brethren.

This is one of Sony Pictures’ efforts to create the world mixing Spider-Man Universe with the Marvel characters. Nevertheless, Sony does have sole rights to all Spider-Man’s villains and allies, including Venom.

Haven’t we already seen Venom before?

The answer may be yes. Venom debuted in 2007 in Spider-Man 3. The film featured Topher Grace as Eddie Brock and his monstrous alter ego. However, his performance was unimpressive and could meet the expectation. The joining of Tom Hardy in the leading role is a coup that will definitely help in his rehabilitation.

What's new in the upcoming film?

Different from what audiences have been familiar with characters in Ant-Man, The Avengers and Thor series released by Disney, the product of Marvel Comics superhero universe is much darker, odious and disgusting.

Journalist Eddie Brock begins to investigate a notorious businessman (Carlton Drake ) whose experiments into alien symbiotes are putting innocent people in danger.

Unfortunately, Brock becomes infected with an alien parasite which depends on human’s blood to survive. It’s also the horrific, glistening mask of alien teeth. Brick has incredible new superpowers and can do anything he wants.  However, Brock and Venom cannot but become more intertwined in order to achieve what they’re looking for. Can Eddie keep control of his new another half in his body or not?

Who is in Venom cast?

As noted above Tom Hardy plays in a role of Eddie Brock, and voices Venom, effectively playing two different interlinked roles in the same movie. With his stunning performance as Eames in Christopher the science fiction thriller Inception (2010), English actor Tom Hardy has been brought to the attention of mainstream audiences worldwide. He even nabbed an Oscar nomination too for his work in The Revenant.

Michelle Williams stars Anne Weying, a district attorney and Eddie Brock's ex-wife in the comic book, who becomes a different version of She-Venom.
