Timothee Chalamet, Call Me By Your Name actor, has lately shared that he used to dream of becoming a professional athlete instead of being an actor.
Winning the Spotlight Award for his performance in his latest film Beautiful Boy, the young actor has spoken at the 30th Palm Springs International Film Festival and shared some interesting facts about himself.
Timothee Wanted To Be A Great Athlete ...
According to Timothee, his teenage dream was to become an athlete like Argentinian football player Lionel Messi or basketball legend LeBron James.
He remembered as a child, there was a time he realized that surrounding adults, including his parents, merely was "people". Nonetheless, those "messy humans" provide him with the inspiration in his current acting career.
Those thought that all of us are vulnerable somehow scared him off. That’s why Timothee wanted to own "invincibility" as Lionel Messi or LeBron James. They are professional athletes who inspired him a lot.
... But He Didn't Possess Enough Athletic Talent
However, he shortly realised that his ‘athletic talent’ is not great enough as his idols.
Finally, he decided to pursue the acting career by going to an art course in New York. Fortunately, he soon fell in love with acting. It was the feeling similar to his past athletic dream. However, there was a difference: Timothee's "inspiration" at that time is no longer "superhuman" but "very human indeed".
Directed by Felix Van Groeningen, Beautiful Boy is a heartwarming story about family’s love with an addict son and his efforts to recover. Also starring Maura Tierney, Steve Carell and Amy Ryan, the film was launched in the US market last October.
