The 91st Academy Awards finally come around the corner, and the nominations list are out. Surprisingly, Black Panther become the first superhero film in the history to be nominated for the Best Picture. The Marvel blockbuster directed by Ryan Coogler stands for original song, sound mixing, original score, sound editing, production design, and costume design nominations.
Also in the Best Picture category are A Star Is Born, The Favourite, Vice, Roma, BlacKkKlansman and Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book.
Took to Twitter, actress Lupita Nyong'o expressed her thought about her film being nominated at Oscars this year.
Black Panther features a fictional developed country in Africa which isolate itself from outsiders and home to superhero Black Panther. The film collected USD 1.3 billion worldwide which made it become one of the most successful movies in Marvel’s history. Joining the cast is Michael B Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, and Forrest Whitaker. The blockbuster received positive feedback from both critics and the audiences for portraying African vividly.
At Oscar 2019, Black Panther has received excellent reviews from the Critics’ Choice Awards, Sag, BAFTAs and it is the breaking of a new dawn for superheroes film at one of the most prestigious award. Previously, a few superhero films were nominated and had taken home some Academy Awards; however, it’s mainly the prize in the technical categories.
