Harry Potter's Rupert Grint to Sign On For Upcoming Apple ’s Series, Tries To Distance From Harry Potter

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint recently signed on for M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming Apple series Grint said that he almost quit the Potter series because he wanted a normal teenage life.

Harry Potter's Rupert Grint has reportedly joined in Apple’s upcoming psychological thriller series from the director M. Night Shyamalan. Penned by Tony Basgallop, the new TV series will star Lauren Ambrose and Nell Tiger, according to Deadline.

Shyamalan is slated to produce the as-of-yet unnamed project as well as direct the first episode. Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures will take charge of producing the series in collaboration with Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan. Escape Artists’ team including Todd Black, Steve Tisch, and Jason Blumenthal will also take part in the production process.

Rupert Grint, who played lovable Ron Weasley in the Potter franchise, will be cast in a supporting role in the Apple psychological thriller series. He shared that he is trying very hard to separate himself from Ron Weasley - the character which once placed a burden on him.

Grint told The Guardian:

The 30-year-old actor revealed that he even thought of quitting his role in the Harry Potter franchise while shooting for one of the movies.

The details of the plot have been kept under wraps, but it is expected to follow a set of parents, Dorothy and Sean Turner, who have to hire a young nanny to take care of their newborn baby. Six Feet Under‘s Lauren Ambrose will be seen as Dorothy while the character Sean Turner hasn’t been cast. It’s possible that Tiger Free will play the young nanny Leanne.

It is reported that Rupert Grint would be playing the younger brother of Dorothy. He recently appeared in Snatch Season 2 and ABC Murders.
