Even though this thriving period of Hollywood seemed to last forever, it inevitably came to an end. By the 1910s, Hollywood filmmakers started to learn how to alter time and space on the screen. From the late 1920s to the 1960s, the film industry entered a new chapter which was called the sound era.

Many people said that the 1927 film The Jazz Singer marked the beginning of this era but others believe that it started in 1929. The golden age of Hollywood finally came to an end because of two reasons: the development of television and antitrust actions.
