While the American singer Ariana Grande ended up with nothing in spite of her five nominations, Cabello’s former Fifth Harmony bandmate was the brightest star of the night.  She was the first to be praised by the show hosted by American actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld.

Onstage at the event, the singer excitedly shared it was the "best moment in my life".

The 21-year-old Cuban native is fresh but big winner in the list of winning reputable prizes at EMAs 2018.

Her debut album "Camila" reached the top No.1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. Smash song "Havana" featuring Young Thug also topped the charts in the U.K. and Australia has surpassed 545 million, and the official music video has exceeded 1.3 billion hits on YouTube and Vevo.

The global icon for woman's rights

More importantly, the 52-year-old Jackson was given the trophy Global Icon Award for her efforts to open the doors for many young generations and indelible impact on pop culture. It’s not the first time in this year that Jackson has honored such “icon” designation; the previous time was at the Billboard Music Awards in May.

On this occasion, Janet Jackson continued to pay tribute to powerful women. She said it was a huge honor to be called an icon, but it came along with greater accountability.

Singer Janet Jackson felt moved to raise her voices on behalf of women who have been looked down on, intimidated, abused and lived in fear. She admitted herself being one of them and “always stand with” them in any case.

“I carry the hope that a new world is emerging”, she said onstage, and love has the power to heal every wound.

At the very beginning of the show, US veteran brought down the house with her brilliant performance including “All for You”, “Made for Now,” and “Rhythm Nation.”

Elsewhere at the 25th edition of the awards, Minaj got the nod for best hip-hop artist and best look. 5 Seconds of Summer won the best rock award, Marshmello snagged best electronic artist. In addition, Dua Lipa was voted best pop artist and Shawn Mendes won best live artist.
