Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt Joins CAB Protests In Mumbai, Says “We Don't Accept This Bill”

A video is now making the rounds on social media where Mahesh is taking the pledge.

The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and CAB protests have been the talk of the town of late and like many people from the entertainment industry, veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt also expressed his displeasure over this act. On Sunday, he could be seen joining a protest meet taking place in Mumbai against this amended Citizenship Act. The Bollywood senior publicly said it’s time for people unite and declared that the nation belongs to everyone.

Mahesh Bhatt and Congress leader Sanjay Jha jointly partook in the protest meeting which was held at Dr. B R Ambedkar’s house “Rajgruha” in Mumbai.

The filmmaker further emphasized the fact that the gathering of protestors for CAB protest is solid evidence confirming that the core and soul of India is still alive.

After joining the press meet, the 71-year-old also took to his Twitter handle to talk about the same.

For those unversed, several parts across the country have been seen the violent protests since the Citizenship Amendment Bill was approved by the Lok Sabha. This situation has escalated since the bill was also cleared in Rajya Sabha. It then became an Act when President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to it.

CAB will pave the way for providing Indian nationality to non-Muslim fleeing persecution in their home countries Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

This issue has led to widespread violent protests in the Northeastern states of the nation, especially in Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura.
