She was born on October 20, 1988, in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

Her father is Willem Swanepoel and her mother is Eileen Swanepoel, an aerobics teacher. Both of them are of Dutch descent. Her sibling Stephen Swanepoel is a professional golfer.

Before signing for Victoria’s Secret, Candice considered quitting her modelling career and return to her native country, South Africa.

She ranked at No.1 spot in the Hot 100 list of Maxim in the year 2014.

Swanepoel walked her first ramp on the Ready to Wear – Spring / Summer show for Tommy Hilfiger and D&G in 2006.

When she was 15, Candice was spotted by model scout Kevin Ellise in a flea market in Durban.
