Zoya Akhtar Ecstatic As Her Film “Gully Boy” Bags Oscar Nomination

Zoya Akhtar, who directed “Gully Boy”, featuring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Siddhant Chaturvedi, is over the moon after knowing that her movie has been selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars.

Zoya Akhtar, one of the finest filmmakers from the current crop, is over the moon! Her much-loved film Gully Boy (2019), featuring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Siddhant Chaturvedi in principal roles, has been selected as India's official entry to the Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category. The 92nd Academy Awards are scheduled to take place in February 2020.

Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment, Gully Boy is inspired from the lives of Mumbai-based rappers Naezy and Divine.

The film hit screens in February this year and went on to do outstanding business at the box-office, striking the right chord with the audience. As producer Farhan Akhtar announced the great news on his Twitter handle, several celebrities and movie buffs congratulated the team on social media.
