Varun Dhawan, who was last seen in Dharma Productions’ Kalank (2019), has a number of exciting projects in his pocket at the moment. He is also set to collaborate with celebrated filmmaker Sriram Raghavan once again. The duo last worked together on the 2015 neo-noir action thriller Badlapur which turned out to be an important film in Dhawan’s electric filmography.
After Varun Dhawan tasted success with Badlapur, the actor went on to do two offbeat films — October (2017) and Sui Dhaaga (2018) – in quick succession. The actor even compromised on his remuneration to be a part of these films. However, when Sriram Raghavan approached Varun Dhawan with his next suspense thriller Andhadhun, the actor did not take up the project and started focusing on commercial projects once again. The film then went on Ayushmann Khurrana who won the prestigious National Award for her outstanding performance in it.
“Ayushmann Khurrana ended up doing Andhadhun and also bagged the National Award. So, when Varun realised that Sriram Raghavan was working on an Arun Khetarpal biopic, he jumped into the fray and got hold of that film. Varun loves Sriram’s films but he wanted to see a bound script in place and hence lost out to Ayushmann. But he did not want to miss a chance to work with the master filmmaker and signed on the film produced by Dinesh Vijan,” a source close to the development informs a publication.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is currently looking forward to the release of his next film Street Dancer 3D alongside Shraddha Kapoor. He is also shooting for filmmaker father David Dhawan’s next directorial Coolie No. 1 with Sara Ali Khan. While Street Dancer 3D hits the marquee on 24th January, 2020, Coolie No. 1 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 1st May, 2020. The actor is also in talks for several other projects as well.
