If we say B-town is a breeding ground of legends, Shah Rukh Khan is a must-have name of the list. Even though the Indian film industry is changing, SRK is still touted as King of Bollywood. In fact, new kids on the block are outdoing themselves to prove their position in the film industry. They are so talented that rumor has it that the Khans’ era has almost ended.
However, wisdom really does come with age, Shah Rukh Khan’s films are the majority in Top 100 Bollywood Movies of All Time. Scoring 41st in the list, SRK-starrer Main Hoon Na is one of the most memorizing films in the superstar’s career.
About the film
For the record, Main Hoon Na was the second-highest gross of Indian movies in the year 2004 behind Veer-Zaara. It marked the first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and director Farah Khan.
Starring Sushmita Sen as the female lead, the film is about an army major who goes undercover as a student. His mission is to protect the general’s daughter from a radical militant and also find his estranged half-brother.
The film was then remade in Tamil with the title Aegan featuring Ajith Kumar, Pia Bajpai, and Nayantara. Other than being ranked in the Top 100 Bollywood Movies of All Time, Main Hoon Na made it to Top 50 best movies of Shah Rukh Khan.
What did others say about the film?
The film garnered a positive response from the audiences. Here are some: “Farah Khan is a genius!!! That's the only way to describe the incredible job she has done with her debut film. One expects this kind of a film from a pro who's been at it for a great many years.”
Main Hoon Na 2?
It’s safe to say Main Hoon Na is one of the nation’s most-loved classic films. On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of its release, director Farah spilled some exotic beans with IANS.
She said she already had an idea for the second installment of Main Hoon Na. It depends on the male lead Shah Rukh Khan whether "he needs to be wanting to do that right now" or not.
To conclude, Top 100 Bollywood Movies of All Time lister Main Hoon Na surely proves it always has an exalted position in the Indian film industry.
