Taapsee Pannu In Talks To Play Mithali Raj In Upcoming Sports Biopic

Taapsee Pannu, who was most recently seen in the bilingual film “Game Over”, has been reportedly approached to play Mithali Raj, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team in One Day Internationals.

Taapsee Pannu, who was most recently seen in the bilingual psychological thriller, Game Over (2019), is in talks to headline a biopic!

After playing a hockey player in Sony Pictures Networks’ 2018 release, Soorma, which was based on the eventful life of renowned hockey player, Sandeep Singh, Pannu has been approached for yet another biopic. It is based on the life of well-known cricketer Mithali Raj who is the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Talks about a biopic on Mithali Raj began in 2017. In September 2017, Viacom18 Motion Pictures announced the project with much fanfare. After a gap of almost two years, the project is finally gearing up to take shape.

According to reports, Taapsee Pannu has given her verbal nod to the project. She is expected to sign the biopic on the dotted line soon.

The source goes on to add that the untitled biopic is expected to begin production next year and Taapsee Pannu will train extensively in cricket to get into the skin of her character.

Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu will shortly be seen in the much-awaited sci-fi film, Mission Mangal, based on scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, India's first interplanetary expedition. She will follow it up with Anurag Kashyap’s next production venture, Saand Ki Aankh with Bhumi Pednekar.

Interestingly, Saand Ki Aankh is also a biopic based on the life of the world’s oldest sharpshooters, Chandro Tomar and her sister-in-law, Prakashi Tomar.
