The actor took to Twitter to respond to these allegations in defense of Rajkumar Hirani, his caption read:

On Sunday, Rajkumar Hirani, the director of many heart-warming, family-oriented movies, has been accused of sexual assault by a woman, who worked on the sets of the biopic Sanju. She said that Rajkumar sexually misconducted her more than one, occasion between March 2018 and September 2018.

Rajkumar Hirani, responding through his lawyer Anand Desai, has denied the allegations. His statement read,

Whether this allegation is right or wrong, it has made an adverse impact on the well-known actor as his upcoming project Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, directed by Shelly Chopra is releasing its trailer.

Incidentally, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and his wife Anupama Chopra too are marked on the mail, but Vidhu has not yet commented.

Rajkumar Hirani is the latest powerful personality in the Bollywood industry to be called out in the wake of #MeToo movement, which has shown the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault.
