Rani Mukerji will be seen next in a fearless avatar as a Superintendent of Police, Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 2. Produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Gopi Puthran, the film deals about crime against women. Rani Mukerji as a brave cop puts all her effort to track accused persons and bring them to justice. The film is all set for a release on 13 December. During its film promotions, the actress visited Police Control Room (PCR) of Mumbai police department. She met all the female officers present at the PCR and interacted with them.
Rani Mukerji discussed about cyber crime being on rise and was shown how Mumbai police keeps track of activities in the city. The actress was speechless after seeing the amount of hard work being put by them to keep the city crime free. She said that it was an eye opener as well as informative to know about the technology used by Mumbai police inorder to tackle crime against women. She was informed about 13 zones in Mumbai which relays each and every information about complaints received by the PCR. She thanked the police force for working selflessly and passionately to keep citizens safe and sound.
Talking about the interaction with Rani Mukerji, a senior officer said, "It was a fruitful discussion between the actress and our police team. We informed her how we tackle cyber crime by quickly registering FIR and investigating content which violates rights of any individual. We reach out to social media platforms and ensure that they take down such content."
Talking about Mardaani 2, the film shows crime scene as Kota in Rajasthan and how the actress deals with a remorseless and inhumane serial killer. The brutal rape and murder sequence is later tackled by Shivani Roy. Recently, a local leader from Kota criticized the filmmakers for falsely portraying the city as a crime land. He also threatened to ban its released in the city.
