Rajinikanth’s Petta Receives Positive Response On Premiere

Petta, 2019’s one of the most anticipated projects, had its premiere yesterday (January 10, 2019).

Featuring the veteran actor in the male lead, Petta starts with a great result globally. The movie under the direction of Karthik Subbaraj has been launched around in 600 screens in Tamil Nadu and is receiving a positive reaction from the admirers and the reviewers.

Not only win great critical acclaim in the domestic market, but also the movie has set the US box office alight. Via Twitter page, the trade analyst Ramesh Bala reveals that Petta has earned approximately $502K at only the US market.

Before Petta, the actor Rajinikanth has two film releases in 2018. His first launch in June, Kaala, has garnered around Rs 1.76 crore. Meanwhile, his latest movie, 2.0’s Hindi version has raked in Rs 20 crore on its premiere.

With such a bright start, Petta, Rajinikanth’s second flick in the past two months, is anticipated setting records like Kaala.

In spite of enormous success, 2.0 lacks the distinctive features commonly found in Rajinikanth’s movies. Previously, Karthik Subbaraj, the director and Rajinikanth’s fan concurrently, has shown his admiration for the 'Vintage Rajinikanth' in his films.

Launching on the same day as Petta is Viswasam starring the actor Ajith Kumar and directed by Siva. Viswasam is promoted as an emotional family entertainer. Therefore, two movies surely have strong competition in early January 2019.

In several initial days, both superstars’ admirers will flock to the cinemas to support their idols. After a couple of days, the real result of their box office competition will be clear.

In addition to Rajinikanth’ presence, Petta also features the actor Vijay Sethupathi, the actresses Simran and Trisha.
