Need a censorship for entertainment on the Internet?
The web route has been a useful tool established for unrestricted creative and freedom purposes. With a high demand for using the web from filmmakers or actors, censorship or relatively a certification is possibly requested here.
The High Court wants to establish a committee on censorship
On Friday, the Bombay High Court published a notice to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting as a response to PIL (Public Interest Litigation) by Divya Ganeshprasad Gontia. The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of Home Affairs also received the High Court’s notice and the division bench is waiting for their replies by the end of October. The PIL looked for the regulation of websites as well as streaming content. Also, there should be a committee on censorship before the users publish the content.
It sounds divided. Some supports the notice, some protests, others think that they need to wait for the process of this move. Although the Bombay High Court tried contacting with the IB ministry, there was no response to this. When having an interaction with HT, Salman Khan, a Bollywood star, shared he totally approved the certification. He said that there were some shows and content waiting for censorship but this was not alike what was going on on the platforms.
Actor Salman Khan has revealed that his company will make the web content
Salman Khan said that his company wanted to apply the certification request to the web. Everything seems to be fine and people all around the world still use it without any difficulties. However, censorship has become an issue that needs considering. Content containing gaali galoch factors is still acceptable to adults. However, in case there are children around you, it would be better if you don’t allow them to come close since such content is not suitable for children, especially those from 5 to 13-14 years old. The websites can’t limit what kinds of entertainment the users choose to enjoy. But it doesn’t seem to be cool if a kid at the age of four watches it on electronic devices like tablets, phones or computers.
Actor Sumeet Vyas is famous for his writing and acting on Permanent Roommates, Bang Baaja Baaraat and TVF Tripling show
Talking about the censorship for websites, Sumeet Vyas stated that it seemed to be a clever move since it could reduce arising risks. But he was still afraid that it could turn to be worse and out of the expectation. Pre-screening, freedom of speech or the understanding of web liberty are requirements that need to be met. Those are the daily “Internet’s responsibilities”. Keeping an eye on what people upload and update on the Internet is fine. However, with an enormous amount of uploaded information around the world, how can the Internet deal with? How can it control this? There still remains a thousand stuff the Internet has to cope with. Sumeet will wait to see the next big thing before coming to the conclusion.
Kubbra Sait, a transgender Indian actress in Sacred Games
For Kubbra Sait, this move is somehow quite disappointing. He wondered if it was a brilliant approach to take control of what people watch, when they watch, where they watch and how much they watch, especially when there are too many things appearing on the Internet. Anyway, it would seem that concern from parents for their children takes a vital part. This reminded him of a situation he had gone through. A mother came and told him that her son at the age of sixteen watched Kukoo and his reaction was like "why he watched it at this age"
Some people said to him that Kukoo is a bold character. But from his point of view, she didn’t mean to titillate anybody because it was her real life. One of the naked facts was that the more you prevent someone from seeing something, the more curious they want to explore that. Watching series was one of his favourite things and some series base on real life. Of course, these would contain relating adult content since this is what’s happening in their real life. so obviously, these elements were unavoidable. Also, Kamasutra was their culture and Sunny Leone used to be an adult actor in their country and became a popular actress, which made Kubbra Sait proud. The Sunny Leone’s Untold Story by Karenjit Kaur about her journey made him take an interest in.
Vikram Bhatt, a filmmaker known for a series of Maaya - Slave Of Her Desires, Twisted, Gehraiyaan, Rain, and Spotlight - Bollywood Exposed
Managing to check the content will cause some difficulties. You can easily check what is happening on online sites like Netflix or Amazon… But how about Youtube? You can cut or forbid shows in India scale but what can you do with the world market? Seeing a film in the cinema with other people and watching something on the Internet or TV privately are the two different things. The I&B Ministry should issue several official instructions for them to follow. Therefore, the keepers will find it difficult to protect personal privacy and avoid vulgarity.
