Taapsee Pannu has struggled through odds to make a stronghold in the Indian film industry. With bold roles in Naam Shabana, Pink, Badla and many other films, the actress is awaiting the release of her Mission Mangal.
She will star alongside Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Akshay Kumar and Sharman Joshi. Speaking on #MeToo Movement, Taapsee Pannu gave a strong statement to curb sexual harassment faced by women.
When asked about her thoughts on the ongoing #MeToo Movement, the actress said, "If the person who is accused of sexual harassment doesn't get punished, the spirit of the movement and a woman who comes out with the story of abuse in public, gets shattered. However, it should not stop other girls from raising their voices if they are abused, because they have stayed silent for ages."
"We all can see how a collective consciousness has come into the picture since the #MeToo movement have started. Nothing will change overnight, but we should not give up on the situation and tolerate abuse. Obstacles will come, but we should not give up. This is a transformative time and therefore it is difficult but if we do not continue, the change will not come in future," Taapsee Pannu told a media agency.
Tanushree Dutta became the pioneer of the movement when she opened up about alleged sexual harassment from Nana Patekar. The actress had alleged that she was harassed on the sets of their film Horn 'Ok' Pleassss in 2009.
Soon, veteran celebrities including Alok Nath, Anu Malik, Sajid Khan, Vikas Bahl were accused and went through investigation for the same. Recently, Deepika Padukone rubbished the rumors that she will be working alongside sexual harassment accused Luv Ranjan.
