A 41 year old businessman from Mumbai has been convicted by Special Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences Court (POCSO) for molesting actress Zaira Wasim in a flight. The incident dates back to 2017 when the actress was travelling from New Delhi to Mumbai in a Air Vistara flight. Zaira Wasim in her Instagram post had revealed about the incident and had captured the man in her phone camera.
The Mumbai police soon jumped into action and had recorded the statement of Zaira Wasim when she was at a five star hotel. They arrested Vikas Sachdev, a businessman who was travelling to his residence after a funeral in Delhi. His wife claimed his innocence and said that it was just an accident. Mumbai police conducted their investigations and submitted a detailed chargesheet of the incident. Sachdev has been accused of molesting Zaira Wasim when she was 17 year old. The actress in her statement had claimed that Sachdev touched his feet to her neck several times. Sachdev was sitting behind the actress.
She also claimed that the crew onboard Air Vistara failed to help her when she informed them about the incident. However, the airline had denied any such charges and had claimed that they do not tolerate such incidents. As per reports, the court found Sachdev guilty and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment. The family members are now preparing to approach the higher court to appeal. Sachdev's family have supported him throughout the incident and believe that he is innocent. Zaira Wasim is yet to react on this incident.
In 2019, Zaira Wasim had announced that she will be quitting film industry. In a long Facebook post, the actress claimed that she will not enter into the film industry due to her conflict with her profession and religion. She felt threatened that acting will take her away from religion and decided to quit the industry. The Dangal actress was last seen in Priyanka Chopra Jonas's film The Sky Is Pink.
