John Abraham has played a diverse range of characters ever since beginning his Bollywood career with the Pooja Bhatt produced erotic film Jism in 2003. If we talk about one of his most notable films, Dharma Productions’ Dostana (2008) will unfailingly find a mention. Also starring Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, Dostana revolved around two young, handsome men who pretend to be gay to secure a high-end flat on rent. Produced by ace filmmaker Karan Johar, the comic-caper was one of the biggest hits of 2008.
After 11 years of Dostana, Dharma Productions’ head honcho Karan Johar is now coming up with its sequel titled Dostana 2. The second instalment stars Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and debutant Lakshya in lead roles. “He is a very creative man. I am sure with Karan doing Dostana 2, he will add glamour, entertainment, and commercial value to the film. He surely must be having something interesting and entertaining things in mind. He is thoroughly a successful and creative person,” says John Abraham about KJo.
When asked about not being a part of Dostana 2, which will mark the directorial debut of Collin D’Cunha, John Abraham says, “I usually like to detach from my characters once the film is over and released. I was in Housefull 2 (2012), but not in the other films of the franchise. Similarly, I was not in any parts of Race except the second one. There is no point in getting emotionally attached to anything, especially films. It is always good when a new lot is taken on board with the next part of every franchise. Even as me, doing action in many of my films, I would love to see Tiger Shroff taking action forward; the way he is excelling in action feels good. Everyone needs to get a chance,” he concludes.
