Hina Khan Recalls Time When Indian Designers Made Her Feel Like A “Nobody” At Cannes 2019

Hina Khan was one of the most sought-after actresses on Indian television when she quit TV to explore opportunities in films.

After playing memorable characters on Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Kasautii Zindagii Kay, she launched her silver screen career and went on to make her red-carpet debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2019, impressing everybody with her sheer confidence, elegance and resplendence. However, her experience during her early preparations for the glitzy event was not a very pleasant one.

Talking to an online publication, Hina Khan revealed that when she approached a few well-established leading Indian fashion designers for her Cannes costume, she did not receive a very favourable response from them. She added that she was made to feel like a nobody. However, when Hina Khan turned to international designers, they welcomed her with open arms.

The actress said that all the big designers of India still look down upon TV celebs. They thought that she was just a TV celeb, so she would not be able to carry the outfit like a Bollywood celebrity. She added that the Indian designers considered her a nobody because she was a TV actor.

Just after Cannes 2019, an editor of a popular entertainment magazine had also made fun of Khan’s appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. However, a great number of film and television celebrities came out in her support, criticising the editor for his remark.

Hina Khan, who was most recently seen in Vikram Bhatt’s Hacked (2020), looked absolutely gorgeous when she finally made her red-carpet debut wearing a Zaid Nakad gown by Lebanese designer Sayali Vaidya, and a shimmer wrap dress from an Australian designer. The actress stole millions of hearts of even more fans around the world. She looked every bit amazing.
