Hina Khan is a force to reckon with! She began her acting career by playing the female lead on Star Plus’ long-running show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. After working for eight long years and establishing herself as one of the most prominent faces on Indian television, the actress quit the show to explore other opportunities. Hina Khan is now set to make her silver screen debut with the upcoming film Hacked, helmed by well-known filmmaker Vikram Bhatt.
Making that transition from television to movies is not an easy thing for any actor from the small screen. Apart from so many other things, there is a class system in the film industry that makes it hard for television actors to make that crossover effortlessly. Hina Khan seconds that and adds that television actors are as good as their cinema counterparts but are pigeonholed.
In an interview with a leading newswire, Hina Khan said that there is a class system in the film industry. Be it big designers or productions houses, she has been judged so many times because of the fact that she comes from a television background. People from the industry don’t even give television actors an opportunity despite the fact that they are equally talented.
The actress did not forget to mention that she faced rejection in Bollywood because of her television roots. She said that when it comes to Bollywood and all the biggies out there, one really needs to prove themselves at another level. She added that she does not know if one film can make a difference because it is tough to get noticed. She has faced a lot because of the tag of TV actor. People told her things like that since she is a television actor, she won’t be able to pull off the character. Khan said that she is grateful to Vikram Bhatt for the opportunity.
Hacked is scheduled to hit theatres on 7th February, 2020.
