Deepika Padukone On Surname Change: A Conversation We Have Never Had

Deepika Padukone revealed that she and husband Ranveer have no plan to change their surnames post their marriage, adding they have both worked hard to create their identities.

It is normal in India for women to use their husband’s names after marriage. As for Deepika Padukone, it has been more than two months since her marriage to Ranveer Singh; however,  there were several reports of her changing her surname.

In her first interview post marriage, the actress had joked that in her case it would be - Deepika Padukone - wife of Ranveer Singh Padukone. Recently, when asked about changing surname, Deepika said frankly that they have never had a conversation on this topic:

After being in a steady relationship for six years, the couple got married in the presence of close friends and family members at Lake Como in Italy. They exchanged marital vows over two days in Konkani-style rituals and an anand karaj ceremony respectively in November.

On the work front, Deepika Padukone is gearing up for her next film "Chhapaak" based on true story of acid attack survival directed by Meghna Gulzar. Meanwhile, Ranveer will be seen in Gully Boy, whose trailer has already been highly praised.
