Deepika Padukone & Rishi Kapoor Collaborate To Headline “The Intern” Remake

Deepika Padukone began 2020 with the release of social drama Chhapaak, directed by well-known filmmaker Meghna Gulzar. After the release of Chhapaak, she is gearing up to start shooting for an untitled film with Dharma Productions. To be directed by Shakun Batra, the upcoming relationship drama features the actress alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday.
The latest news has it that Deepika Padukone has added yet another interesting project to on resume. Well-known Indian production house AZURE Entertainment and Warner Bros. India have joined hands to jointly produce the Hindi language remake of The Intern (2015) with Rishi Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. The original film starred legendary Hollywood actor Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.
Talking about the remake, Rishi Kapoor said in a statement that The Intern is a very relevant film for the present-day Indian workplace milieu and it showcases human relationships beautifully. He said that he is very excited to be working with Deepika and being a part of this heart-warming story.
Deepika Padukone added that The Intern is an intimate, relationship-driven film, set in and around the workplace; a story that I believe is very relevant to the present-day social and cultural environment. She said that she has been looking for a light, breezy comedy-drama and this story fits in seamlessly. She concluded by saying that she cannot wait to begin this journey.
Kapoor and Padukone have earlier worked together on the Imtiaz Ali directorial Love Aaj Kal (2008), and it will be really exciting to see them together after a long gap of 12 years. Apart from playing the female lead, Deepika Padukone will also co-produce the film with Sunir Kheterpal of AZURE Entertainment. The adaptation will be entering cinemas in the year 2021. The rest of the star cast is yet to be finalized.
