Deepika Padukone Breaks Down During "Chhapaak" Trailer Launch

Deepika Padukone revealed that she has put all her efforts in film to spread awareness and hopes that people will leave theaters with a message.

The much awaited Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak will release on 10 January.During its trailer launch in Mumbai, Deepika broke down after seeing the trailer. The film has been directed by Meghna Gulzar and the film revolves around real life story of acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. Vikrant Massey will play role of Laxmi's boyfriend and is an important character in the film. Chhapaak is co-produced by Deepika Padukone and Fox Star Studios. It will be Deepika Padukone's first film after her marriage with actor Ranveer Singh.

It was during the trailer launch when media persons and entire cast and crew of Chhapaak were present. Deepika Padukone saw the trailer and was told to speak on stage. Unable to control her emotions after seeing the trailer, Deepika cried and soon Meghna Gulzar came to her rescue and took over the microphone. While addressing the media, Deepika Padukone said that she was unaware about speaking on stage after seeing the audience seeing the trailer. Her co-star Vikrant Massey also tried to console her.

She further said that while signing this film, she did not sit through an entire narration. It has often happened with her that she sits through an entire process of hearing scripts and later she decided whether she wants to do the film or not. She decided to sign this film after sitting alongside Meghna Gulzar for few minutes. She was overwhelmed to hear the script and instantly confirmed to do the film. She further said that the film has been made with a lot of love, passion and enthusiasm. She revealed that the film has been made with lot of responsibility.

Laxmi Agarwal was attacked by a stalker after she rejected his proposal. This incident took place in 2005 when she was just 15 years old. She is fighting against sale of acid in India. She has started a campaign 'Stop Sale Acid' and her efforts led Supreme Court to direct state and central government to regulate sale of acid.
