This year seems to complete with Bollywood when having Hrithik Roshan’s War crossing the milestone of Rs 300 crore together with many other blockbusters. To mark the end of a decade, let’s take a tour to review the top 10 highest-grossing Indian movies in the past ten years that may we miss a shot.
2010 – Dabangg
Marking its own era with the National Award for the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment category, Dabangg was also earned the most in 2010. Setting in the successful series starring superstar Salman Khan, the film also marked the first entry of Sonakshi Sinha into the Bollywood world. The nett grossing of the movie was Rs 241.25 crore in its lifetime.
2011 – Bodyguard
Salman Khan continued his smooth flow of success when bagging the role for another biggest box-office earning of the year 2011. Siddique’s action rom-com was the remake of his Malayalam film one year back with the same name. Featuring Kareena Kapoor in the lead female role, Bodyguard crossed many other hits of that year to lead the most-talked year-ender movie with the nett earning of Rs 212.99 crore.
2012 – Ek Tha Tiger
The 2012 thriller release created a buzz in that year when collecting nett Rs 237.91 crore to the bank. Opening the franchise of Tiger, Salman Khan – Katrina Kaif starrer film was written and directed by Kabir Khan. In the 2010-2019 decade, it also scored the Bhaijaan of Bollywood as the invincible star as it was the third year his film bagged the title of the highest-grosser of the year.
2013 – Dhoom 3
In 2013, Aamir Khan defeated the unstoppable days of Salman Khan with his release Dhoom 3. Vijay Krishna Acharya’s directorial hit the nett box office collection of Rs 286.51 crore to be the Indian movie earned the most that year. The main cast of Dhoom 3 included Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, and Uday Chopra.
2014 – PK
Following the marvelous leap since Dhoom 3, PK continued to write the golden pages in Mr Perfectionist’s career. His 2014 release also had Anushka Sharma, Boman Irani, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt, and Saurabh Shukla in the lead roles. Its lifetime ran the maximum nett gross of Rs 337.52 crore at the box office.
2015 – Bajrangi Bhaijaan
The National Award-winning movie was also the highest-grossing one of 2015. With the enormous return of Salman Khan, the film experienced the best mark of its lifetime with Rs 340.60 crore in the nett.
2016 – Dangal
It seemed that Salman Khan and Aamir Khan took turns to head the box office ruler every year in this decade. In 2016, breaking the records of Salman Khan’s hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dangal collected nett Rs 374.53 crore and became the blockbuster of all time. Director Nitesh Tiwari was inspired by the story of the Phogat family to make the film a hit with the cast of Sanya Malhotra, Fatmi Sana Shaikh, Zaira Wasim, and Suhani Bhatnagar.
2017 – Bahubali 2: The Conclusion
There would be a reason for Bahubali 2: The Conclusion to take home the National Award, which would be the film’s immense nett earning of Rs 513.63 crore. It was also the only film from the South industry to be enlisted in the top 10 highest-grossing Indian movies of the decade. The film starred Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Ramya Krishna in the pivotal roles.
2018 – Padmaavat
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat was considered as one of the biggest-budget movies in Indian entertainment history. Thanks to the stellar performance by Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, it gained an impressive nett gross of Rs 282.279 crore.
2019 – War
The happening year mastered a massive collection of hits over hits but right after the release of War in October, the film was the greatest earner of 2019. Pulling the nett collection of Rs 292.716 crore, Hrithik Roshan – Tiger Shroff’s action film also became the biggest opening day box office collection in B-town.
