After a year with no release, Deepika Padukone is all set to back to the silver screen with a hotly awaited film Chhapaak. The movie is adapted from the real-life of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and mark a new position of Deepika Padukone as a producer for the first time.
Besides all the buzz that the film has created, how much Laxmi got paid for her story is a lesser-discussed topic. Recently, according to a report published in Bollywood Hungama, the storyteller and main character Laxmi isn’t content with the remuneration she got initially.
The source revealed that for the film rights, she has been paid only Rs 13 lakhs though now she is advised to request for more. They also spilled the beans that a major rift has happened between the film crew and Laxmi.
The report also revealed that female lead Deepika wants to clear the air and wants her to get paid fairly.
Starring Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey, Chhapaak is predicted to make a big hit at the ticket window. The film is slated to hit the theaters on 10 January. Last week, the makers have dropped the first trailer of the film and it has been receiving much applause throughout.
Recently, during the promotion, Deepika disclosed the reason why she chose to play this role. She said, she found the narrative interesting and the story very compelling. Especially, the actress saw a connection with Laxmi’s "grit and determination." Earlier, Chhapaak’s filmmaker Meghan Gulzar sipped some beans about the film. Speaking of how perfect Deepika is to play the female lead, Meghan said she found “an uncanny similarity” between Laxmi and Deepika.
