Chhapaak's Makers Get Into Legal Trouble As Laxmi Agarwal’s Lawyer Wants To Protect Her Integrity

Reports are rife that the lawyer of storyteller Laxmi has taken legal action against the filmmakers and Chhapaak cast.

Deepika Padukone’s hotly awaited film Chhapaak hits the theaters today after months of waiting. It has been making the headlines recently for both good and bad reasons, be it the social experiment that Deepika and other Chhapaak cast conducted to test people’s reactions towards acid attack survivors to the rumored remuneration Laxmi Agarwal got paid for sharing her story. Now the film continues to steal the headlines but for a bad reason again. The film, this time, found itself in trouble. Reports are rife that the lawyer of storyteller Laxmi has taken legal action against the filmmakers for omitting to include her name in the closing credit of the film.

Taking to Facebook handle, lawyer Aparna Bhat expressed her disappointment as she hasn’t been given any credit. In her post, she emphasized that she would seriously take legal action in order to protect her integrity and identity.

She said,

Elaborating further over the same, the lawyer wrote she knows she can’t match Bollywood’s might producers’ power like Deepika and Chhapaak cast, but keeping mum will endorse injustice. The woman affirmed that she will take her cause to a higher level and be all set to face any consequence.

The film Chhapaak release date falls onto 10 January but it was screened two days before for journalists and film reviewers. It got big thumbs up from the critics and is said to be well worth the wait.
