“Bhangra Paa Le” stars Sunny Kaushal along with Rukshar Dhillon. The film also marks the directorial debut of Ramesh Taurani’s daughter Sneha Taurani.

Bhangra Paa Le is the next Bollywood film which is ditching its theatrical release for a digital premiere on an OTT platform. Recently, Dharma Productions’ much-delayed project Drive, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez, also premiered on Netflix. And now, Bhangra Paa Le is gearing up for its premiere on the same streaming media platform.

The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala who kicked off 2019 with the massive success of Uri -The Surgical Strike, a moderately budgeted film which went on to inflame the box-office by earning a whopping Rs. 245.36 crore. However, his next releases including Sonchiraiya, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and The Sky Is Pink failed to set the cash registers jingling at the box-office. The producer has now decided to release his next Bhangra Paa Le directly on Netflix.

Bhangra Paa Le is headlined by Sunny Kaushal and Rukshar Dhillon in lead roles. It marks the directorial debut of filmmaker Ramesh Taurani’s daughter Sneha Taurani. Earlier scheduled to hit screens on November 15, Bhangra Paa Le will now release on November 14 directly on Netflix, a day before it was to come out in theatres.

“Usually, one believes that if a film is directly releasing on OTT, then it might be an awful film. But that is not the case with Bhangra Paa Le. It has shaped up well and the makers are happy with the product. However, they realize that releasing it in cinemas and spending on print and other costs will add to the budget. The buzz isn’t that strong and there are too many releases this month, which can affect its prospects. Also, the performance of The Sky Is Pink was disheartening despite the presence of an actor like Priyanka Chopra. As a result, when they got a good deal from Netflix, they went ahead with it,” reveals a source close to the development.
