Andhadhun came out a major China ticket office draw which ranks in an Rs 300-crore record collection (around 43.4 million USD) and this collection was announced by the makers on Monday. The movie starring Anil Dhawan, Radhika Apte, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Tabu in the pivotal roles, is a murder drama about a piano player becoming embroiled unwillingly in a former movie actor’s murder.
Andhadhun, which is under the production of Viacom18 Motion Pictures, is launched with the title The Piano Player in China. Sriram Raghavan - who has a reputation for such dark movies as Badlapur and Ek Hasina Thi - is responsible for directing this film.
Last year, Andhadhun was among India’s best performing and best-reviewed films. Now, it has become the 3rd highest Hindi language movie ever after Secret Superstar and Dangal, said by Viacom18 Motion Pictures’ Chief Operation Officer, Ajit Andhare.
COO of Viacom18 Studios Ajit Andhare talked with PTI:
Actor Ayushmann Khurrana said that he feels not only “humbled” but also “overwhelmed” to witness Andhadhun to become a blockbuster of 300 Rs crore in China.
He said in one statement that the Chinese people had had a deep affection for their thriller film which is under the direction of Sriram Raghavan - one of the finest film producers of India. Moreover, Sriram achieves the credit thanks to his vision in redefining this thriller genre.
The movie is bringing pride for India, and the actor feels happy as he could make a significant contribution to this big cinematic moment. Ayushmann also shared that it’s such a great feeling when hard work is appreciated not only in India but also in a giant film market like China. His craft has been showered plenty of appreciation from Chinese audiences, and he couldn’t thank these beloved viewers enough. What’s more, Khurana wishes that he can have an opportunity to go to China early to meet the people of this country and send his “thank you” to them.
China has recently become a potential market for many Indian movies with a number of films that have done exceedingly well such as Hindi Medium of Irrfan Khan, Bajrangi of Salman Khan, and Dangal of Aamir Khan.
