Arshad Warsi, an actor who has always played a diverse range of characters in his career, is set to essay yet another interesting role. Last seen in Anees Bazmee’s comic-caper Pagalpanti (2019), Arshad Warsi has just joined the cast of the upcoming Hindi film Durgavati which features Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role.
The talented actor took to Instagram and shared the news on Wednesday. In his post, he wrote that he is excited to have joined the stellar cast and crew of Durgavati and is looking forward to a thrilling ride.
For the uninitiated, Durgavati is a Hindi remake of superhit Telugu horror film Bhaagamathie (2018) which starred well-known South Indian actress Anushka Shetty in the lead role. However, the makers of the Hindi film have not announced the same. Bhumi Pednekar, who was last seen in Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019), is playing the same character which the Baahubali star played in the original.
Talking about the film, Pednekar said that she is shooting for Durgavati in Bhopal. It is a very new narrative and a new story for her and that she is carrying the entire film on her shoulders for the first time and since amazing people are associated with this film, it is going really well.
When asked if she is feeling the pressurise of fronting a big film, the actress said that there is always pressure when one shoots a film because one tries to give a better performance than their previous films.
Durgavati is being directed by South Indian filmmaker Ashok, who also called the shots for the original film. He is making his Bollywood directorial debut with the film. Produced by Akshay Kumar, Bhushan Kumar and Vikram Malhotra, Durgavati is slated to enter theatres in 2020.
