Ajay Devgn To Bankroll A Biopic On Ramsay Brothers

Ajay Devgn may be busy shooting for several of his upcoming movies wherein he is playing the central character. But that is not stopping the superstar from hearing new scripts and greenlighting some of them to be made under his production house. The latest we hear that Ajay Devgn has decided to develop a biopic based on the life of the Ramsay Brothers.

Ajay Devgn will produce the biopic under his banner, Ajay Devgn Ffilms, while the rights to Ramsay Brothers’ story belong to Priti Sinha, daughter of producer Vinay Sinha. Collaborating with the two on this project is well-established writer Ritesh Shah.

Talking about the project Priti Sinha says, “The late Shri Tulsi Ramsay and Shyam Ramsay along with every member of the Ramsay family instilled their faith in us by giving us their biopic rights. Ajay and I are honoured and excited to depict the fascinating journey of passion, hardships and immense success of 3 Generations of the Ramsay family who successfully set up the horror empire in India.”

For the uninitiated, Ramsay Brothers are known to establish the horror genre in Indian cinema and enrich it will a number of horror films. Over the course of years, they churned out 30 films under the genre, which are being watched even today. Some of their most iconic and successful horror movies include Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche (1971), Guest House (1980), Veerana (1988), Purana Mandir (1984), Purani Haveli (1989), Darwaza (1978) and Bandh Darwaza (1990). In addition to movie, Ramsay Brothers also produced the Zee Horror Show which gained huge TRPs for the channel.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is busy shooting for his upcoming sports biopic Maidaan, directed by Amit Sharma. He will shortly be seen in his hugely anticipate historical drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Also starring Saif Ali Khan and Kajol, the movie releases on 10^th January, 2020.
