Within this year, a lot of flicks have not come up to the mark at the ticket booth despite having great content. A number of underrated films had escaped the audience’s attention.
While movies like Article 15, Dream Girl and Gully Boy have been noticed, quite many other films did not receive the applause they deserve.
From Hamid to Sonchiriya and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, we have made a list of films which are gems contentwise but did not succeed in snatching people’s attention. These underperformed movies have amazing plots and stories that redefine the apperception of prototypal Hindi flicks and challenge the social norms.
The Sky Is Pink
Cast: Priyanka Chopra, Zaira Wasim, Farhan Akhtar, Rohit Saraf
Helmed by filmmaker Shonali Bose, this film is based on the real story of Aisha Chaudhary, an inspirational speaker, along with her parents. The Sky Is Pink sees the harmony of laughter, tears, fun and many more.
Although the Priyanka Chopra starrer was highly praised by global film festivals, it did not get good responses from the audience. Before the end of the year, make sure to watch this movie for an unforgettable swing of emotions. Link to download The Sky is Pink online has been leaked but you had better watch it on paid sites to avoid legal trouble.
Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota
Cast: Radhika Madan, Abhimanyu Dassani, Gulshan Devaiah, Mahesh Manjrekar, Jimit Trivedi
The Vasan Bala directorial marks the first film of debutante Abhimanyu Dassani. Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota also stars Radhika Madan, Jimit Trivedi, Mahesh Manjrekar and Gulshan Devaiah as pivotal roles. The film was critically acclaimed in MAMI Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival.
Its plot tells the story of Surya who has an uncommon condition that makes him insensitive to pain since birth. Though the film possessed a one-of-a-kind concept, it was unfortunately underrated.
Sonchiriya
Cast: Bhumi Pednekar, Sushant Singh Rajput, Ranveer Shorey, Manoj Bajpayee
The movie was directed and co-written by filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey. It garnered love from the audience as well as film critics but didn’t manage to cast its spell at the ticket counter.
Sonchiriya was shot in Chambal and it centers around the tale of a dacoit group and their persona. This film should not be missed, at all.
The Tashkent Files
Cast: Naseeruddin Shah, Shweta Basu Prasad, Mithun Chakraborty, Pankaj Tripathi, Mandira Bedi, and Pallavi Joshi
The Tashkent Files is a Hindi-language scheme thriller movie about the demise of Lal Bahadur Shastri, former Prime Minister of the nation. It was helmed by Vivek Agnihotri.
Although it collected some unfavorable reviews from a few critics, you should totally watch it before this year ends.
Hamid
Cast: Vikas Kumar, Rasika Dugal, Talha Arshad Reshi
The film narrates the story of Hamid who is seven years ago. He comes to believe that God’s number is 786 and the boy is told that if he dials 786, he can talk to his deceased father.
Hamid is bathed in hope and warm glow. The movie collected warm reviews from critics and is the one that nobody should skip watching.
Gone Kesh
Cast: Jitendra Kumar, Shweta Tripathi, Vipin Sharma, Brijendra Kala, and Deepika Amin
Months before, Ayushmann Khurrana also acted in a self-worth and self-love accented movie Gone Kesh. The movie has a similar theme as that of Bala.
In a crude society, beautiful hair stands as a standard of beauty. The movie has a heartfelt plot which takes the viewers on a trip of realizing important things and their self-value from their very own good deeds.
Section 375
Cast: Akshaye Khanna, Meera Chopra, and Richa Chadha
Poring over emotional abuse following the rape and how those cases are argued in court, Section 375 carefully transverses the solid storyline of discovering the ground on what alteration should be carried out regarding India’s rape laws.
