2019 Recap: Bollywood Stars Who Lingered On Headlines Without Any Release

While a myriad of top stars such as Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana have dabbled in a lot of movies within 2019, there are three biggies of the industry still hitting the news panel without any film release. Here is who, and how.

1. Aamir Khan

Mr. Perfectionist has been picky for always. The very unexpected fiasco of the 2018-released Thugs Of Hindostan made him even more yes-cagey. It has been months now that Aamir has been chewing over diverse scripts and finally, the actor has given a nod to Advait Chandan’s Lal Singh Chaddha. The film is the Bollywood recreation of global blockbuster Forrest Gump and for this flick, he will be seen reuniting with Kareena Kapoor Khan, his co-star in 3 Idiots.

Aamir Khan did not have any release this year and his next Lal Singh Chadha will go on floors on December 25th, the end of 2020 as his favorite release time is Christmas. Until then, Aamir’s fans can rewatch his previous movie to remind themselves of what they’ve been missing so far.

2. Shah Rukh Khan

It isn’t very odd for B-town to undergo a year with less of Aamir. However, 365 days without SRK was unexpected until 2019. His thundering failure of Zero last year made him carry out some serious self-reflection.

He had apparently been mulling over three scripts daily, at an average. But nothing has caught his favor as of now. Rumor has it that the actor is likely to sign on a movie with the ola famous director Aditya Chopra.

This speculation makes us reconsider the decision of Shah Rukh to shake hands with new filmmakers. When he collaborated with directors who are new to him such as Maneesh Sharma and Gauri Shinde (whose films are respectively Fan and Dear Zindagi), the movie has underperformed.

Do you remember when the last time Shah Rukh Khan had a megahit was? 2013-released Chennai Express? And it’s clearer now why he has been so cautious. For the uninitiated, no Shah Rukh in 2020 either.

3. Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone last appeared on the silver screen in Padmaavat back in January 2018. The actress is returning to the cinema for Meghna Gulzar directed Chhapaak that marks her two-year clean break. After that, she will be seen in the same project '83 with her husband Ranveer Singh.

In the meantime, she has refused more offers than any other top-notched stars of Bollywood.
