The filmmaker was best known for making the television series Ramayan which is a TV adaption of the Hindu epic namesake. The TV series then turned out to be everyone’s favorite as it was widely watched and loved across the country. In the year 2000, Ramanand Sagar was awarded the civilian honor of Padma Shri by the Government.
Recently, the film Ramayan and the name of Ramanand Sagar once again topped the trending topics as the 1987 – 1988 TV series is reportedly about to return to Doordarshan. The hour-long episodes will air daily with two different broadcast time frame, one at 9 am and the other at 9 pm.
According to Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, the mythological series will be re-telecast from this Saturday after more than three decades. The team is going an extra mile to enhance the visual quality for the series.
For those who are unversed, this decision comes just two days after the nationwide 21-day lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Son of Ramanand Sagar, Prem, got a call from PMO asking for bringing the show to television again.
He revealed that he hopes it will create the same buzz among the public as it did in the 1980s.
