Rima Das Directorial "BulBul Can Sing" To Be The Opening Film For 2019 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

Bulbul Can Sing, the latest work of director Rima Das, has been officially announced to be the opening night movie for 2019 IFFM (Indian Film Festival of Melbourne). The movie will kick off the start of IFFM in Victoria, Melbourne on August 8. This Assamese film had its first screening in the Contemporary World Cinema category at 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
Bulbul Can Sing’s plot focuses on three teenagers’ journey to come to accept their sexual orientation. Meanwhile, they also have to face the villagers’ paradigm and ethics.
The actors participating in the film received massive rain of adoration for their acting, while the director Rima Das was considered to have “matured as a filmmaker” with this work of hers. The movie had already been praised in a variety of other international movie festivals, namely the Berlin Film Festival.
The director is most renowned for Village Rockstar, released in 2017. The directorial won the title of Best Feature Film at 65th National Film Awards. The film was honorably the official entry of India at 91st Academy Awards which were held earlier this year.
IIFM’s 10th edition will take place for more than a week from August 8 this year. Legendary actor Shah Rukh Khan will officially be main guest of the festival.
