Kusalakumari, the veteran actress has predominantly worked in Tamil film industry, departed this world last Wednesday at 83 because of age-related sickness.
Previously, the actress once left her mark in Koondukili, a 1954 Tamil romance movie. In the film, the actress had the opportunity to co-star with M. G. Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan and B. S. Saroja. It was two Tamil superstars MGR and Sivaji's unique collaboration in the industry. Nonetheless, the movie was commercially unsuccessful at that time.
Subsequently, she continued to make her appearances in numerous Malayalam, and Telugu flicks alongside multiple South male stars namely Prem Nazir and A Nageshwara Rao.
During her lifetime, Kusalakumari chose to live a single life without marriage and lived together with her brother until the eventual day in her life. As J Jayalalithaa, Tamil Nadu's former Chief Minister knew that the actress' poor financial situation, she approved a monthly allowance of Rs 5000 to help Kusalakumari's poverty somewhat.
Kusalakumari is best known for her roles in a variety of Tamil movies including Konjum Salangai, Parasakthi, and Harichandra.
